Privacy Policy
Platereel is run by JULY 16TH LLC, a Florida company based in Miami Beach ("we"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the Platereel app and website, why, and the choices you have. Platereel is for adults 18 and older.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email from Sign in with Apple or Google, your username, your birthday (to confirm you're 18+; never shown on your profile), your home city and neighborhood, budget, how often you eat out and the cuisines you like.
- Location: while you use the app, to show nearby places and to confirm a check-in at a restaurant. If you turn on "remind me when I leave", we watch only that one restaurant's area until you leave, then stop.
- What you do on Platereel: check-ins, ratings, reviews, photos you take at check-in, reels you link, saves, follows, groups, RSVPs and perks you use.
- Messages: text messages you send to other diners and groups. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted so that reports can be reviewed.
- Linked accounts: if you connect Instagram or TikTok, your public profile and the posts you choose to show. We never post for you.
- Purchases: if you buy Gold, the App Store or our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card. We only see that you subscribed.
- Device data: app version, device type and crash reports, to keep the app working.
How we use it
- To run Platereel: show restaurants, reels and ratings, verify check-ins, and power messages, groups, perks and invites.
- To keep it safe: confirm ages, stop spam and fake check-ins, and review reports.
- To give restaurants anonymous insights, such as "61% of diners were first-time visitors". Restaurants never see your contact details, and groups smaller than 20 people are hidden from their statistics.
What other people see
Your username, photo, home city, ratings, reviews, reels and Tastemaker status are public on Platereel. A restaurant sees your first name and username only when you RSVP yes to its event, request contact, or are contacted with your permission. You choose who can message you.
What we never do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't upload or keep your phone contacts. If you invite friends, only the people you pick get a text, sent from your own phone.
- We don't let restaurants pay to change ratings or reviews.
Who we share with
Service providers that run Platereel for us under contract, such as hosting (Supabase, Cloudflare), payments (Apple, Stripe), and maps and place data (Google). We may share information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request, or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
- Your account data, while your account is open.
- Chats with no new messages for 12 months are deleted automatically.
- Unsent messages are kept hidden for 30 days, only so they can be reviewed if reported.
- Reported messages are kept for 1 year for safety, or longer if the law requires it.
- When you delete your account, we erase your data within 30 days, including backups.
Your choices
- Download your data or delete your account in Profile › Account.
- Turn off location, notifications and offers from restaurants at any time.
- Block or report anyone, and choose who can message you.
Children
Platereel is not for anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we close it, and if they are under 13 we delete their data.
